Bruce Springsteen gives away free Halloween download

In celebration of Halloween, Bruce Springsteen has posted a new song and video on his site. Stereogum says he "sings the blues of an 18th century boy who grew hooves, a horse head, bat wings, and a forked tail, and won the Stanley Cup now haunts the Pine Barrens of southern Jersey." Spooky. Maybe this is his way of making up the cancellation of his usually decorated home in Rumson, N.J..

The Streets and Muse collab, Mike Skinner talks final album

Mike Skinner likes to blog. Let's rephrase. Mike Skinner loves to blog. This is great, especially for hardcore Streets fans that can't get enough of his crazy stories about drum machines and gambling. However, it is often the case that we have no idea what he is talking about. Exhibit A:

"I made a demand earlier this week that I wouldn't allow anyone to take my photo in front of anything incorporating modern life...We ended up standing by a tree right by a main road. It's going to look great. Like it could have been a million years ago."

Pretenders to release new album one MP3 at a time

The Pretenders will release a new album, Break Up the Concrete, on Sept. 23. Instant gratification, though, starts now in the form of MP3 downloads of every track on the album before the actual release. The trick is that only one track is available each week leading up to the album’s release date. So really, it's more like a drawn out progression of instant gratification over nearly three months. You'll live, though.

Listen to Ted Leo's new turlet-talking song

You Ain’t No Picasso has posted an MP3 of the new Ted Leo track “The World is in the Turlet” that recently premiered on Jersey City’s WFMU, having lovingly ganked it from the station’s forum. “You know, I used to tease my Georgia-raised dad for his occasional pronouncing the bathroom’s main feature as ‘turlet,’” YANP claims, but such dialect is actually more regional to almost anywhere but Georgia (urban dictionary claims Philly, Indiana and the Midwest, some websites say New Jersey or certain N.Y.C. boroughs, FYI).
