Hear Hurray for the Riff Raff’s New Single “Pyramid Scheme”

Today, Hurray for the Riff Raff has released “Pyramid Scheme,” their first single after putting out the critically-acclaimed The Past is Still Alive in 2024. On our year-end best albums list, the LP landed at #12. “A few years out and stripped of the veneer of a concept album like The Navigator, The Past is Still Alive confronts it directly, and focuses on finding an answer,” Annie Parnell wrote. “This is a theme that runs through the album—feeling doomed, but finding the will to keep going anyway. Segarra has confessed to fearing their lived experiences were too much for the music industry, too real to take center stage in their work, but on this album, they buck those fears with radical honesty.”

The Billy the Kid, Calamity Jane, Darby Crash and Frida Khalo-citing “Pyramid Scheme,” which features contributions from Phil Cook, Hand Habits’ Meg Duffy and Yan Westerlund, comes alongside a new set of US tour dates for Hurray for the Riff Raff, in which Segarra and their band will play shows alongside Waxahatchee, Bright Eyes, MJ Lenderman and Merce Lemon. Listen to the new single and check out the tour itinerary below.
