Adult Swim Orders New Rob Corddry-Starring Comedy About the Hindenburg Explosion

Adult Swim is known for finding comedy in the controversial, the bizarre and the unsettling, but can they make a real-life tragedy that killed 36 people funny?
We’ll find out soon enough: the network just ordered a new pilot, literally named The Hindenburg Explodes! (and without so much as a spoiler warning), from Rob Corddry, creator of the ultra-meta, recently concluded Children’s Hospital, Josh Perilo and Jonathan Stern. Corddry won two Emmy awards for his work on Children’s Hospital and was nominated for two more.
The Hindenburg Explodes! will follow the perilous 1937 flight of the airship from Nazi Germany to New Jersey over the span of three days. In a press release, Adult Swim stated that the show will focus on the flight’s “unusual crew and passengers.” It will be a quarter-hour live-action series, executive produced by Corddry, Stern and Becca Kinskey, and produced by Abominable Pictures.
The number-one basic cable network among millennials, Adult Swim just ordered a whole slew of other new shows last week. The Hindenburg Explodes! is currently without an, ahem, air date.
