Synth-pop wizard John Maus has released a new single, “Running Man,” in advance of his new record Addendum, out this Friday. Frantic and repetitive, “Running Man” is high-energy 80s nostalgia with a slick, contemporary sheen.

While previous Addendum single “Episode” was lush and sparkling, “Running Man” is a test of endurance. “I am, I am the Running Man,” Maus repeats over warbled, inaudible shouts, rarely pausing for a breath.

Addendum, the follow-up to 2017’s Screen Memories and recorded during the same sessions, is out May 18th.
