David Lynch and Chrystabell Announce New Album Cellophane Memories

Last week, when David Lynch teased that he was cooking up a new project, fans speculated a new film or show was potentially in the works. Today, he surprised us with the announcement of a new album titled Cellophane Memories, along with the first single, “Sublime Eternal Love.” The album, set to release August 2 via Sacred Bones Records, is a collaboration between the legendary filmmaker and synth-pop artist Chrystabell. The pair have previously collaborated on Chrystabell’s music with Lynch as a producer, and the singer played the role of Agent Tammy Preston in Twin Peaks: The Return.

Fittingly inspired by a vision that Lynch experienced during a nighttime walk through a forest, the record is a trip through the mysterious portals in their collaborative mind’s eye, complete with an orchestral soundscape designed by late composer and Lynch’s long-time creative partner Angelo Badalamenti. In Chrystabell’s words, Cellophane Memories contains “many doors that are left open to wonder, wander and get turned around in.” “It’s like mood music,” she says, “not that it creates mood, but more that it reflects your own.”
