Send word to the Fire Lord immediately: the Avatar has returned… again. Nickelodeon is adding another chapter to an ever-expanding universe with a new Avatar series. Avatar: Seven Havens, a new 2D animated series from OG creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. Set after the events of The Legend of Korra, Seven Havens introduces a young Earthbender who learns she’s the next Avatar––but in a post-cataclysm world, that title is a curse, branding her as a destroyer instead of a savior. As enemies close in, she teams up with her long-lost twin to uncover their past and save the Seven Havens before civilization falls.

Seven Havens will consist of 26 episodes across two seasons, making it the third animated series in the Avatar franchise, following The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. The series will be produced by Ethan Spaulding, Sehaj Sethi, and Avatar Studios, led by DiMartino and Konietzko, who left Netflix’s live-action adaptation in 2020 due to creative differences. The duo returned to Nickelodeon in 2021 to lead Avatar Studios, where they’ve been creating new TV and film projects.

This news arrives just as The Last Airbender approaches its 20th anniversary, having first aired on February 21, 2005. Details on the premiere and casting for the new Avatar series will be revealed at a later date. Until then, fans can expect a new theatrical film centered on Aang and the characters from The Last Airbender in January 2026.
