Dave Chappelle’s New Stand-up Specials Are Netflix’s Most-Viewed Ever

Dave Chappelle’s 2017 has gotten even better.

After signing a massive deal with Netflix and releasing two well-received stand-up specials, there’s now news from the streaming service that Chappelle’s The Age of Spin and Deep in the Heart of Texas are already the two most-watched comedy specials on Netflix’s platform. “The triumphant return of a comedy legend in Dave Chappelle: Collection 1 was our most viewed comedy special ever,” the company stated, per EW.

The revelation came from a Netflix first quarter earnings report that also revealed Adam Sandler’s platform-exclusive films have tallied half a billion streams. (It’s still weird typing that).

Chappelle “owes” Netflix a third stand-up special as part of his deal, but there’s no word yet on when that particular special will come.

On a related, if more serious, note: Chappelle recently paid tribute to his friend and colleague Charlie Murphy, who died last week after battling leukemia. You can watch that moving clip, which also features John Mayer, below.
