Election Day Cocktails from The Watergate Hotel
Photo and recipes via The Watergate Hotel
So, Election Day is here, and even though the vast majority of Americans traditionally can’t be bothered to vote (unless that vote is related to some sort of reality TV show), this mid-term election is shaping up to be a pretty big deal. Early voter turnout has hit record levels, Oprah is knocking on people’s doors in Georgia and everyone is hoping that this election will signal a course correction for the country. Or push us further in the direction we’re heading. Just depends on your political persuasion. Either way, Election Day carries some added weight this year, and you’re probably going to need a cocktail.
The Watergate Hotel, which holds a special place in American politics, has created a couple of special cocktails inspired by this midterm election. The historic hotel will be serving these two cocktails to guests in their bar and showing election day coverage all day. I can’t imagine a more storied place to have a drink on Election Day. But don’t worry if you can’t make it to D.C. on a Tuesday afternoon; Watergate has shared the recipes to their Election Day cocktails so you can whip them up at home.
