Cuphead Expansion Delayed Due to Crunch Time Concerns

In an unfortunately all-too-rare move in the games industry, Studio MDHR, the small indie team behind 2017’s run-and-gunner Cuphead, announced Tuesday that they would be delaying an expansion to their hit game due to concerns over how a rushed development would affect developer health and well-being.
The DLC expansion, cleverly named the Delicious Last Course, was announced in June with a vague release date of 2019. A statement co-signed by lead developers Chad and Jared Moldenhauer pushed back the release to 2020, and attributed the delay to meeting “the meticulous level of care and quality we always strive for” and making “things in a way that’s healthy and sustainable for our team.”

Mary Poppins said a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down, so Studio MDHR sweetened the bitter news with the first gameplay trailer for the Delicious Last Course. The trailer shows off the new third playable character Ms. Chalice, as well as two winter-themed bosses.
