GuardianCon, a charity event held annually in Florida by a community of like-minded players, has raised one of their largest dollar amounts to date for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital with the help of Destiny 2 developers Bungie.
The fundraiser marathon hosted by GuardianCon, which started as a Destiny fan meetup but has since grown into an all-inclusive videogame group, surpassed their $3 million goal and have raised over $3.7 million for the charity so far. Bungie’s contribution totaled $400,000, and the convention’s organizers stated that it was their largest goal met in the history of GuardianCon.
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s main focus is on childhood leukemia and other cancers that are affecting kids around the world, and the organization has since helped improve the survival rates for these illnesses.
