Every year, Barack Obama lets us know how he’s filling his days since he’s no longer president by tweeting out a list of his favorite entertainment of the year. The 44th (and far favorable to the 45th) president began with releasing a list of his favorite books he read this year, which included a number of National Book Award nominees, including top winners Trust Exercise by Susan Choi and The Yellow House by Sarah M. Broom.
As we wind down 2019, I wanted to share with you my annual list of favorites that made the last year a little brighter. We’ll start with books today — movies and music coming soon. I hope you enjoy these as much as I did. pic.twitter.com/l5qTGkAPok

To tune out all the chaos going on in the news, Obama also tweeted his favorite songs of the year:
From hip-hop to country to The Boss, here are my songs of the year. If you’re looking for something to keep you company on a long drive or help you turn up a workout, I hope there’s a track or two in here that does the trick. pic.twitter.com/mQ2VssyDwt

The list certainly had mentioned artist Lizzo feeling “Good as Hell”:
I love you so much Mr. Obama.. thanks for assisting me with my morning cry https://t.co/K9BV0YuGX8

Last but not certainly not least in terms of buzz, Obama released the list of his favorite movies and TV shows. The list included a lot of popular titles, including Paste-endorsed picks like Ash is Purest White, Parasite and Little Women:
Next up are my favorite movies and TV shows of 2019. Of course, there’s also American Factory, a film from our own production company, Higher Ground, that was recently shortlisted for an Oscar. Here’s the full list: pic.twitter.com/PEcgwotcxm

A24 garnered two mentions in the form of The Last Black Man in San Francisco and The Souvenir, but one of their “gems” of the year was overlooked:

Talk of Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s Fleabag was largely enlivened with this list, as Obama made a cameo of sorts in Season 1 of Fleabag of which viewers were readily reminded. Waller-Bridge tragically does not have social media, but there were plenty of fans out there ready to react for her:
Obama likes Fleabag. If you watched Season 1, you know Fleabag . . . um . . . “likes” Obama. https://t.co/zTlTrXeEz4

ok i’m gonna try to be calm about this but doesn’t the Fleabag pilot have a scene where she MASTURBATES TO AN OBAMA SPEECH pic.twitter.com/py7I5FVI6T

This is as close to a response from Fleabag herself as we’re going to get, so we’ll take it.
We couldn’t ask for higher praise than this. #Fleabaghttps://t.co/r6EC5YkftK
