A new Charlie’s Angels film is on the way from Sony and will be directed by Elizabeth Banks after her success in the director’s chair on the studio’s Pitch Perfect sequel.
It will be a while, with the Angels reboot set to hit theaters on June 7, 2019, per Variety. As of now, few other details are known about the film, including its cast.
Recent screen appearances by the Angels have been sparse after ABC’s short-lived TV show in 2011. Sony has produced two previous films: 2000’s Charlie’s Angels and 2003’s Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle starring Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu as as the former police detectives turned hit-women.
Banks will produce the reboot through her own Brownstone Productions along with her producing partner (and husband) Max Handelman.
