John Wick Writer to Pursue New Film Inspired by Just Cause

Bringing the game to the big screen, John Wick creator and writer Derek Kolstad is set to kickstart a film inspired by the Just Cause videogame franchise.

Pairing up with Kolstad is Constantin Film’s Robert Kulzer and Prime Universe Film’s Adrian Askarieh. Kulzer and Askarieh will produce aside Kolstad, whereas Constantin’s Martin Moszkowicz will executive produce. Hardly a stranger to the videogame franchise, Askarieh has been working with Just Cause for about a decade.

There are currently four games in the franchise from Avalanche Studios and Square Enix. The franchise follows Rico Rodriguez on his quest to stop a deadly mercenary group that goes by the name The Black Hand. Though no official plot details have been announced, it can be assumed the film adaptation will explore the plot associated with the games.

Videogame adaptations have flopped in theaters more often than not, so it’ll be interesting to see where this film lands. It’s at least certain that it’ll be filled with action with Kolstad on board.
