In a throwback to the pre-internet era, anyone wanting a first peek at the newest Christopher Nolan flick will have to head to the cinema to do so. The first Tenet teaser forgoes the YouTube route and remains a theater-exclusive at the time of this writing.
Regal Cinemas attendees of the new Dwayne Johnson/Jason Statham headliner Hobbs & Shaw will be among the first to witness the teaser. As is the Nolan way, the 40-second clip sounds more mysterious than enlightening, featuring star John David Washington (BlacKkKlansman) and the tagline: “It’s time for a new protagonist.” The rest of the (stellar) cast—Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Kenneth Branagh and Michael Caine, among others—remains unseen, as do any hard details on what the film is actually about.
Nolan pulled a similar trick with the teaser for his 2017 war film Dunkirk, attaching it to Suicide Squad before putting it up online. We can assume Tenet’s will make its way to a laptop near you soon.
Tenet is scheduled for release on July 17, 2020. Check out a rundown of everything we know about the film so far here.
