Exclusive: beaming Release Debut Single

This morning beaming, the new duo of Derek Ted (Dora Jar, Odie Leigh) and Braden Lawrence (of the Districts), has released their debut single, “slow sinkin.” The track, which kicks off the road to their debut eponymous EP, features Field Medic on guest vocals, continuing Ted’s longtime collaborative relationship with the prolific SoCal singer-songwriter. “slow sinkin” collides into perfection, thanks to Field Medic‘s second verse, strips of steel guitar from Districts guitarist Pat Cassidy and Ted and Lawrence’s melded vocals.

beaming will come out June 13 via Rose Garden, Ted and Lawrence’s new label home, and will also feature Kississippi’s Zoe Reynolds and songwriter/producer Ben Burney. “‘slow sinkin’ came from us combining two different ideas we’d been working on separately,” the duo say. “Lyrically, it’s about looking back on the past and how easy it is to get caught up in your own BS. It’s our most acoustic track on the EP, and we wanted it to feel more natural and organic. We also got our buddy Field Medic to sing the third verse.”

Field Medic adds, “When Derek started showing me the songs beaming was working on, the first thing I said was that I would love to be involved somehow. It just so happened that ‘slow sinkin’ needed a second verse, so I went to the studio with them a week or so later and cut my verse. I love all the songs on this EP and I’m glad to be a small part of it.”
