So. Much. Funk.

The third single from St. Paul & The Broken Bones’ forthcoming third record, Young Sick Camellia, is by far the funkiest. “GotItBad” sounds like it was straight-up plucked from the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack, but it also incorporates a big ol’ southern-sized helping of St. Paul’s token Dixie lean. The eight-piece band is from Alabama, after all, and they continually weave southern rock into their tunes. Get your groove on and listen to the soulful song down below.
A rumbling of strings kicks off the track, which proceeds to melt into a sticky, disco dancer. Carried by the most funky of bass lines, “GotItBad” explodes in a fit of unexpected electronica in its last minute. “GotItBad” follows the album’s first two singles, “Apollo” and “Convex.” Listen to “Apollo,” an equally groovy spacer, right here.
Young Sick Camellia follows the band’s 2014 debut, Half the City, and their sophomore record, 2016’s Sea of Noise (one of Paste’s favorite albums from that year). It’s out Sept. 7 via RECORDS, and Jack Splash, who has collaborated with such aces as Solange, Alicia Keys and Kendrick Lamar (!), produced the album.
The band is embarking on a tour behind the album, which kicks off with twin shows in Alabama cities Tuscaloosa and Birmingham the weekend following the album’s release. Tickets are on sale now, and you can find the dates here.
