On Wednesday, Alessia Cara performed a stripped down version of Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” on BBC Radio 1. Her soulful rendition of the pop song immediate caught the attention of Swift, who promptly shared the link to the cover in a tweet that same day:
You’re AMAZING, @alessiacara. Love this, @BBCR1 ! http://t.co/YqKl7UJkZL

Cara was flabbergasted, tweeting minutes later: “DID TAYLOR SWIFT JUST ……….. WAIT. NO. HOW. ALREADY. NO.” A Toronto native, Cara began posting musical covers to her YouTube account at age 13. She signed with Def Jam Recordings this year and has released one single, the anti-party/introvert anthem “Here.” Her smoky voice is well worth Swift’s notice.
