Youth Lagoon Shares “The Sling”

Just a month away from the release of his comeback album Heaven Is a Junkyard, Trevor Powers—aka Youth Lagoon—has released his new single “The Sling.” Following behind “Idaho Alien” and “Prizefighter,” “The Sling” is a stark, piano-driven ballad that puts Powers’ grieving vocals at the forefront. It’s a spectral, hollowed triumph that adds to the mystique of Heaven Is a Junkyard. “The Sling” feels like Powers’ most-personal moment yet. “Father tells Eugene / He’ll only meet God / If the kitchen is clean / This is not on me / Time would bend / Like a drunken tree,” he sings.

Watch the Tyler T. Williams-directed music video for “The Sling” below. Heaven Is a Junkyard arrives on June 9 via Fat Possum Records.
