Reince Priebus Uses First Cabinet Meeting to Thank Trump For “The Opportunity and the Blessing” to Enact His Agenda

Today we learned that White House chief of staff Reince Priebus feels blessed by the past six months. During Trump’s first cabinet meeting, Priebus took the opportunity to tell Trump just how lucky he’s been to serve in Trump’s administration:

On behalf of the entire senior staff around you, Mr. President, we thank you for the opportunity and the blessing that you’ve give us to serve your agenda and the American people. And we’re continuing to work very hard every day to accomplish those goals.

Priebus’ remarks came after Trump suggested they go around the room and everybody say their name, and Mike Pence kicked things off by saying that being Trump’s vice president was the “greatest privilege of [his] life.” After a comment like that, it’s not like everybody else could just say, “Hey, my name is Jeff Sessions. I’m just here to have fun. Who’s next?” So what was originally supposed to be a round of brief intros quickly devolved into a throaty ass-kissing session.

For his part, Trump frequently chose to hop in and provide a little color commentary on just how awesome he truly is. How awesome is Trump? Well, he’s just about the best damn thing since FDR:

Never has there been a president, with few exceptions—case of FDR, he had a major depression to handle—who has passed more legislation and who has done more things than what we’ve done. I think we’ve been about as active as you can possibly be at a just about record-setting pace.

He went on to rail on the senate Democrats who Trump called “obstructionists.” Trump then clarified, “Maybe they’ll change but I doubt it—for awhile—but they’re truly obstructionists.” If it wasn’t for them, Trump certainly would have colonized Mars by now.

Pretty inspiring stuff from a man who just had his second travel ban blocked, yet again.
