Drew Barrymore is bringing horror to The CW.
Barrymore’s Black Rose Anthology, a one-hour horror anthology, will be written and directed entirely by women to give it a unique perspective on humanity’s deepest fears. Barrymore’s Flower Films is also bringing former Scream: The TV Series showrunner Jill Blotevogel to the project.
The CW has had success mixing younger, feminine perspectives with the horror genre; Deadline cites iZombie and The Vampire Diaries as proof of that.
TV’s recent surge of horror stories has been somewhat hit-or-miss, but it has also been quite popular—this series of vignettes about guilt, repression, jealousy and insanity could be the next big thing at The CW.
