The Diplomat Reveals Explosive Secrets in Season 2 Trailer

Netflix has released the official trailer for Season 2 of the political drama, The Diplomat

According to Tudum, Season 2 finds US Ambassador Kate Wyler, played by Keri Russell, reeling from a catastrophic explosion in London. As she attempts to piece together her shattered life and fractured team, she uncovers a disturbing truth: the attack was not orchestrated by an external force but from within the British government. In her quest for answers, her primary ally is her estranged husband Hal Wyler (Rufus Sewell), who is deeply entangled in the unfolding crisis. Meanwhile, she navigates the challenges of a continuously troubled marriage and a complicated relationship with British foreign secretary Austin Dennison (David Gyasi). Additional characters include CIA station chief Eidra Park (Ali Ahn), Nicol Trowbridge, UK prime minister (Rory Kinnear), and Stuart Hayford, deputy chief of mission of the US embassy in London (Ato Essandoh).

The trailer offers audiences a glimpse at the aftermath of the first season’s cliffhanger. Viewers also get a brief look at series newcomer and Academy Award-winner Alison Janney, who features as Vice President Grace Penn in the second season.

This season promises to elevate the stakes as Kate grapples with betrayal, ambition, and the complexities of international relations. Russell received a nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series at the 2023 Emmy Awards for her role as Kate Wyler.

Check out the trailer below. Mark your calendars: Season 2 of The Diplomat will premiere on October 31st on Netflix.
